ExamSoft & Respondus LockDown Browser
Jefferson offers two resources to ensure exam security and deter cheating — ExamSoft and Respondus LockDown Browser.
ExamSoft licenses are specific to programs and licensed based on the projected number of test takers. If you want to use ExamSoft, contact your Program Chair to see if the tool is available.
LockDown Browser locks down the online testing environment within Canvas. The tool prevents test takers from opening additional browser tabs or leaving an exam environment to search the web. LockDown Browser is available to all educators who create and administer exams or quizzes in Canvas.
Accessing Respondus LockDown Browser
LockDown Browser is integrated directly within Canvas and accessible from the left-hand side navigation within a course. If not already visible, enable the LockDown Browser menu item for your course by going to Settings > Navigation and then drag the LockDown Browser menu item into the top "enabled" section of the page. Be sure to click Save at the bottom of the page to save the new navigation setting.
